Requirements: An office extension built to exacting standards to match the appearance of existing construction

Potential Issues: appropriate scale for a small open corner site, matching existing materials and finishes, plus a relocation of a shared foul sewer

Built on a small estate of large detached houses on the edge of a conservation area the client requested a match to the original construction whilst maintaining the correct proportion to the original building. The diversion of a shared foul sewer to beneath the extension whilst maintaining the service from six houses involved careful detailing and operations in the ground. Despite a delay in manufacture of the matching quoin stones and exceptionally wet weather in the Autumn of 2000 the project remained on target and was completed to programme.
